What is the best way to do a buttonhole on a baby's sweater?
My favourite buttonholes on baby sweaters are yarn over knit 2 together.

Can I make the eyelet buttonholes bigger?
Allow 4 stitches per buttonhole. Knit the first 2 stitches together, yarn over twice, knit the next two stitches together through the back of the loop, in the next row knit through front and back of the yarn over.

How do you make a one row buttonhole?
Let's make a 3 stitch buttonhole. Knit to the buttonhole, cast off 3 stitches without knitting them and slip the last stitch onto the left needle purl-wise. Turn your work around and out of the first stitch (where your yarn is) cast on 4 stitches. Turn your work around again, knit the first stitch off the left needle and slip the last cast on over this stitch.

How do I make the buttonholes in a double thickness band?
These bands are quite often used to cover the raw edges in a Fair Isle sweater. Follow the instructions for the one row buttonhole. Let's say you have to knit 2 more rows to the fold. After the fold knit 2 more rows and knit to your first buttonhole. Knit the next stitch and the first cast off of your one row buttonhole together, knit the second stitch and the second cast off together, cast off. Repeat with the next stitch. In the next row knit to your first buttonhole, pick up the 3 cast off’s of your one row buttonhole and knit them.
