The pattern allows an edge stitch. What is an edge stitch?
An edge stitch is an extra stitch allowed for the seam.

What is the best way to increase stitches?
Some patterns will tell you to knit in the front and back of the stitch, other patterns will tell you to make 1 (m1) In garter stitch I like to increase in the same stitch anything else I use the M1. For instructions go to knitting terms and abbreviations.

My pattern tells me to increase evenly across the row. How do I do that?
Let's do an example. We cast on 60 stitches and have to increase 10 stitches evenly across the row. Take the 60 stitches divide them by one less stitch then you have to increase. So we divide the 60 stitches by 9 = 6, we have 6 stitches left over. We divide the 6 stitches by 2 = 3stitches on each side. The increase row will look like this:K3, m1, (k6, m1) 9 times, k3. If you increase in front and back of the stitch your increase row will look like this: k2, inc in next stitch, (k5 inc in next stitch) 9 times, k3.

How do I increase in the round?
LetÂ’s use the same example: If you increase by making a stitch, divide the 60 stitches by 10 = 6.Your increase row will look like this: (k6, m1) 10 times. To increase in the front and back of the stitch (k5 inc in next stitch) 10 times.

How do I join a new ball of yarn?
The best place to join is at the beginning of a new row. Just start knitting with the new ball. To anchor the yarn in place knit the second and third stitch with both the yarn from the ball and the tail end.

I Have a knot in my yarn what do I do?
Cut the yarn and try to join it at the beginning of a new row.

What does splicing the yarn mean?
Splicing is great for projects that are visible from both sides. Pull the plies apart for 4inches. Break off half of the plies. Overlap the thin ends and wrap around in the direction of the plied yarn.

I have a panel in the center of my sweater. How can I avoid counting all the stitches?
Put a marker in at the widest point of the panel. You will only have to count the stitches in the panel pattern.

I have done the back and front. Both pieces measure the same, but I still have trouble sewing it up. What should I do?
Measure the back only and count the rows. Knit the same amount of rows for the front. Measuring isn't accurate enough.

My cast off is to tight what do I do?
Use a bigger size needle to cast off. This is very important when you do a neck on a pullover.
